Naira Payout Integration

OPay and PalmPay credit in seconds; every Nigerian bank settles over NIP. WePesa wires gift-card escrow into both, with NUBAN name verification on every payout.

You have an iTunes, Amazon or Steam card and you want Naira in your OPay or bank account now — not a Telegram promise, not a half payment. This is the documentation for the Naira leg of that trade.

How it works

From gift card to settled payout.

  1. 01

    Lock the NGN quote

Live parallel-aware USD/NGN plus the card's rate, locked 10 minutes. Nigeria's rate moves fast — the lock is the point.

  2. 02

    NUBAN name check

We resolve the account name from the NUBAN or wallet ID and display it. Typos and 'send it to my guy' setups both die here.

  3. 03

    Wallet or NIP settles

OPay, PalmPay and Moniepoint credit almost instantly. Bank NUBANs settle over NIP, usually inside two minutes.

Rail fees are absorbed by WePesa unless a row says otherwise. The quote you lock is the amount that settles.

Reliability

How we keep the rail up when the network isn't.

NIP congestion handling

Nigerian interbank transfers queue during peak CBN load. Payouts stay pending rather than failing, and we escalate with the PSP after 10 minutes — you don't have to chase anyone.

Wallet-first routing

If your bank's NIP endpoint is degraded, we offer instant credit to an OPay or PalmPay line instead so you're not stuck waiting on a bank.

Rate lock in a volatile currency

NGN can move several percent in a day. The quote you accept is contractual — a mid-trade FX swing is our exposure, not yours.

No 'code first' anywhere in the flow

The card goes into escrow, never to a counterparty's inbox. If the payout can't complete, the card comes back to you unredeemed.

For builders

Trigger payouts programmatically.

FAQ

What sellers ask about this rail.

OPay or bank transfer — which should I pick?+

OPay and PalmPay are the fastest and most reliable today. Use a bank NUBAN when the amount exceeds wallet limits or you need it in a salary account.

Is BVN mandatory?+

Not for a first trade under ₦100,000. For higher daily limits, yes — CBN KYC guidance requires it for our regulated payout partners.

Which cards pay the best Naira rate?+

US iTunes physical cards and Steam consistently top the board; UK cards run a few points lower. The catalog shows live rates per brand and region.

Why is my bank transfer pending?+

Almost always NIP congestion. It clears on its own; if it passes 10 minutes we escalate automatically and can reroute to a wallet.

Can I be paid in USDT instead?+

Yes — many Nigerian sellers do exactly that to sidestep Naira volatility. See the USDT rail.
